What a handsome colt! Owyhee Nevada is named for a place in Elko County Nevada on the Duck Valley Indian Reservation, and is about as pure Mead/Damele bred a colt that you can come up with! This beautiful little boy is a Straight coated dun appaloosa genetic Curly, and won't it be fun to watch his color unfold! Both parents are strongly colored appaloosa (a leopard, and a large blanketed), so we feel sure that this boy will have some interesting things develop in his coloring as he grows.......and as if that lovely dun color isn't enough! Those big doe eyes will melt your heart, even if they are on a colt - and his solid build promises to put him in a good position for any riding or driving discipline. Because he is a purebred Curly, but has a straight hair coat, he would be an excellent cross with homozygous for curl mares. We have another Straight colt that we began using this year in our breeding program, and won't it be with great anticipation that we wait for those first foals to come into our world! Some of the longest manes and tails, and thickest curls can come from a Curly to Curly cross in which one parent is straight coated - and fabulous straight coated colts can be hard to come by. We think Owyhee is one of them, and can't wait to see what he will bring to the purebred Curly world!!!
